Patrick holds a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology (M.S.E.E. '04), earned on a full research scholarship while developing RF and MMIC circuits for Caltech, JPL, Raytheon, and Virginia Diodes. He graduated with highest honors and a 4.0 GPA. He earned dual Bachelor's degrees from the University of Virginia: Electrical Engineering (B.S.E.E. '01) and Physics (B.S. Physics, Distinguished Major '01'). He received his J.D. from the Illinois Institute of Technology's Chicago-Kent College of Law with a certificate in Intellectual Property in 2025 and is currently a candidate for the Virginia Bar.

Patrick is a registered Patent Agent (Reg. No. 70,613) with a J.D. and certificate in Intellectual Property. He has over fourteen years of experience in patent drafting and prosecution. His research portfolio includes IEEE-published work on Local Oscillator generation for the Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) telescope (2005) and a University of Virginia Press publication on quantum wire and dot semiconductor lasers (2002). As an inventor, he holds 17 patents assigned to Proxy Technologies for novel drone swarm coordination techniques and related swarm technologies (2018).

Patrick's technical specialization is in cryogenically cooled RF/millimeter-wave circuits, non-linear optics and quantum mechanically based technologies.
